Are Corporate recruiters jumping the Shark!

What am I talking about? Well Wiki says Jumping the Shark is when TV programs that were once iconic reach a tipping point and start the grab around for poorer story lines and therefore lose why they were good! This has been widely accepted in the Internet world for applications or trends have lost their fashion.

Speaking at yesterdays Recruitment Consultant Technology conference I majored on how do recruitment agencies get placements back from In house recruitment teams. Currently in house teams have the Technology advantage over some recruitment consultancies because their tools are more adaptable to using the current applications on the web.

However are corporate recruiters getting close to the tipping point! As volumes increase for difficult skills in the City, the in house teams wont be able to cope/deliver and the line managers will start to consider recruitment consultancies again at better margins.

Bring on the water skis!

What we now need is an In house Recruiters strength index which I would start at 85 our of a 100.

Whats your views?

So what you're implying is that in-house recruiters are currently comparable to a prime time, iconic TV show at it's peak - perhaps 'Friends' or 'Eastenders' as an example.

In my personal opinion, in-house recruiters are less able than agencies, comparable to 'Heartbeat' or 'Holby City' and therefore haven't ever 'reached' high enough to take such a fall.

Back to the question at hand - I'm hoping that enough vacancies will come to market that in-house recruiters no longer have the capacity to continue to simply sieve through candidates who have applied directly because they've been unfortunate enough to be made redundant, and pick the best out of that bunch.

RP depends...Like any business function. If you have decent plans in place and the right resource in place, of course in house functions can cope. Unlike the last comment agencies haven't really covered themselves in glory during this recession by improving quality of service. So will we return to the days of spraying speculative cvs around the market in the vain hope of making a quick buck. Web 2.0 has changed the world for jobseekers and clients alike.
